ITALY PROPOSES REGULATED MARKET FOR PHYSICAL OIL

Italy is drafting a proposal for a regulated European bourse for physical oil trade in order to cut speculation, the country's energy regulator chairman, Alessandro Ortis, said in his annual speech

ROME, Italy; July 19, 2010.- "We are putting together a specific proposal with the help of experts in the sector," Ortis said, adding it should help to restrict volatility and favor long-term investment.

BP Plc said the amount of crude oil it siphoned from the U.S. Gulf of Mexico leak fell to 2,200 barrels (92,400 gallons/350,000 liters) in the 24-hour period ended at midnight on Thursday

WASHINGTON, U.S. May 24, 2010.- "The flow changes, it's not constant," BP spokesman John Curry said on Friday. The company had reported siphoning as much as 5,000 (210,000 gallons/795,000 liters) barrels per day from the ruptured well earlier on Thursday.

The World Wildlife Fund is urging governments in the Arctic to suspend all oil exploration due to "severe risks" of spills or blowouts until a comprehensive plan to deal with disasters is in place, a senior official said

ITALY, France; May 17, 2010.- Bill Eichbaum, a WWF vice-president, said extreme weather, icy conditions, lack of regulation and the absence of a coordinated plan of action between nations could lead to a crisis even worse than in the Gulf of Mexico.
