China and Japan signed a final agreement on Friday for a 46.3 billion yen (US$409.4 million) loan to fund environmental projects in central and western China, the official Xinhua news agency reported

SHANGHAI, China; January 2, 2008.- The loan, signed by China’s deputy finance minister and the governor of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, carries an interest rate of 0.65 percent to 1.4 percent and has a term of 25 to 40 years, the report said.

The loan will fund air pollution reduction and urban waste projects in six cities and provinces in central and western China.
