VISTA SEWAGE SPILL NEARLY DOUBLE ORIGINAL ESTIMATE
05.17.07 - Leído 93 veces. Enviar esta notaThe city yesterday estimated about 401,000 gallons of sewage spilled in early April near South Melrose Drive, doubling a previous estimate of 203,000 gallons.
CARLSBAD, CA, E.U; May 17, 2007.- Advertisement According to a Vista city report prepared for the San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board, most of the spill was contained. About 27,000 gallons of sewage reached a tributary of Agua Hedionda Creek, but wastewater didn’t reach the lagoon downstream in Carlsbad.
The report states that a corroded 8-inch iron pipe had ruptured.
The spill occurred soon after a much larger spill in North County that sent about 7.3 million gallons of sewage into Buena Vista Lagoon at the Oceanside-Carlsbad border in late March and early April.
