DOT SAYS US WILL RESIST EU AVIATION EMISSIONS PLAN
05.15.07 - Leído 82 veces. Enviar esta notaThe Bush administration will strongly resist a European proposal to make foreign airlines pay a premium for aircraft emissions, US Transportation Secretary Mary Peters
WASHINGTON, US: May 15, 2007.- Peters told a US House of Representatives hearing that the European Union carbon emissions trading initiative would unilaterally impose extra costs on US and other overseas airlines that fly to Europe.
“We do intend to push back very hard on the EU on this,” Peters said.
Other US government and airline industry officials have said the plan to reduce greenhouse gases would hurt economic growth. They say domestic carriers are already taking steps to make their planes more fuel efficient and less polluting.
